Fine. You heard about some cancellations. You heard about Marvel Now. There’s a few more interesting things in today’s Marvel October solicitations. For my money, the most significant non-trumpeted news is the debut of the Dexter comic. Yes, Dexter the serial killer from the long-running Showtime series. And it’s written by the novelist who created the character.

Brian Wood and Carlos D’Anda have been announced as the creative team for a new Star Wars series debuting next year, from Dark Horse Comics.

Let’s not get into any “it had to happen” stuff here. It didn’t have to happen. But it did. A 53-year-old Twilight fan was struck by a car as she rushed across Harbor Drive to get a spot in line for Thursday morning’s panel, and lated died from her injuries.

Andrei Molitiu, he of Abstract Comics fame, is moderating afascinating sounding panel, along with Mark Badger. that looks at Jack Kirby and the abstract art.

As reported yesterday, the Soho gallery and office space of the Museum of Comic and Cartoon Art closed suddenly this month. A statement went out later on Monday:

Sad news. Writer Roger Slifer is still in a coma following a hit and run accident two weeks ago. Jim Salicrup has been updating his condition on Facebook, and on Sunday posted this from a friend of Slifer’s:
