Just in case you were at your mountain retreat over the weekend, the big news was that the new Amazon/Comixology moved swiftly to disable in app purchases via ioS. Comixology issued a new app, where you can sync up your purchases after download. There were also changes to the Android app: now you CAN purchase […]
It’s Monday morning and if you are feeling cranky I guarantee that browsing the We Are Comics tumblr will make you feel better. As reported by Steve Morris over the weekend, this is a Tumblr run by Rachel Edidin, Arturo Garcia, Elle Collins, and Sigrid Ellis, with social media help by Jen Vaughn, where people simply tell their stories about reading comics. All kinds of people, all ages, colors, genders…because comics ARE for everybody. I loved scrolling through and reading readers origin stories…they are so varied and enthusiastic and feel of love for imagination and creativity.
Well FINALLY. Warner Bros. stopped heming and hawing and announced that they are actually making a Justice League movie! Hoorah! And it’s going to be directed by Zack Snyder. Hoo…rah? In a big reveal at the WSJ, president of worldwide production Greg Silverman revealed that the JL movie will be a sequel to 2016’s Batman vs Superman, and both will star Henry Cavill as Superman, Ben Affleck as Batman and Gal Godot as Wonder Woman. The role of Cyborg is also being cast. The Justice League movie probably won’t appear until 2018 at the soonest, however, meaning you will be able to completely high school or college before you see this film. Meanwhile, Marvel will have put out a Woodgod movie.
DC’s final C2E2 panel focused on Superman featuring the talent line up of Greg Pak, Aaron Kuder, with Scott Snyder and Charles Soule coming in a little late. Much of Superman’s 2014 was discussed along with Scott’s heart felt goodbye to Superman Unchained.
First up was Action Comics with Greg Pak and Aaron Kuder. The scene in issue 30 was shown where Doomsday kills polar bears. Pak went on to talk about how much fun he’s having writing Action and that issue 30 was a prelude to the “Doomed” storyline. He promised in the upcoming storyline we’d see “enormous comic book fights like you’ve never seen before.”
§ Many thanks to David Fairbanks, Michael DeLaney, David Nieves and of course, Tireless Torsten Adair for their C2E2 coverage. Sounds like this show has come into its own at last.
§ There were a bajillion comics events this weekend and one of the more oblique was the Brooklyn Zine Fest ; Robyn Chapman has a complete report and says it was her most profitable show since Comic Arts Brooklyn, so in Brooklyn they like ziney comics. That is good.
