aashow

Phone time! Earlier today our lovely old antique phone started ringing from somewhere in Stately Beat Mansion’s attic, so I braved the cabinets and cobwebs to pick up the receiver and see what was going on. It turned out Marvel Chief Creative Officer Joe Quesada, VP of Animation Cort Lane and Executive Producer, Man Of Action Studio’s Joe Kelly were on the line, to discuss the new Marvel cartoon series Avengers Assemble which’ll be airing on Disney XD!

phantom+variant+#3

Tweet[*spoilers throughout] I’ve been following Oni Press’s HELHEIM since it started and have been impressed with it all along, but some of the plot elements have finally started emerging that make it not only an interesting story, but a very promising one for a longer run. HELHEIM follows the life, death, and undead life of [...]

Although ESPN is sort of a fiefdom of Disney, it is still subject to the same kind of bottom line [...]

REVIEW: An End For Amethyst

sos8

TweetWith Amethyst 8 comes the end of the series, from Christy Marx and Aaron Lopresti. Bringing back Amethyst was another experimental move from DC, but one which has launched off a viable character for them to use in future… just not in her own ongoing series.

tumblr_inline_mm7vc5s6CV1qz4rgp

TweetThis May DC released a free guide in magazine-like format, about the size of a small prestige graphic novel itself, containing a list of “essential graphic novels” and also a “chronology” for new readers. It’s not a bad idea considering what a difficult time new readers, or those who have left for awhile, can have [...]

REVIEW: You Really Should Have Read TEN GRAND #1 by Now

547547_567095936658607_1846857544_n

Tweet And if you haven’t, I strongly recommend that you don’t read this full review, or maybe not even any of it, since not knowing anything about the comic before reading it makes for a pretty astonishing experience. TEN GRAND reads like a Choose Your Own Adventure story and you feel convinced somehow that you [...]

Thanos_Rising_Vol_1_1_Baby_Variant.jpg

The AGE OF ULTRON crossover anchored Marvel’s line in April, with tie-in issues spreading across a range of titles. As often happens when event titles are underway, it’s a quiet month for new releases, with the notable exception of the THANOS RISING origin mini. And of course, as the months roll on, we’re getting an increasingly clear picture of how the assorted Marvel Now launches and relaunches are working out.
