While we’re not privy to the local scene, based on this, it seems that LA’s popular Secret Headquarters comics shop has officially opened a new branch, called Thank You Comics, in Highland Park. New comics shops are the lifeblood of the industry…for the last few years, Diamond has estimated the number of new stores at 1% growth — which is almost break even, but was Diamond likes to point out, it isn’t falling. Diamond has also made opening new stores a priority by hiring Chris Powell to help with his effort, and introducing a few programs that make is easier for a new store to get stocked. No idea if Thank You used any of these programs, but it sure looks like a beautiful, modern comics shop.
We are crazy excited to introduce you to the newest member of the Secret Headquarters family: Thank You! Located at 5011 York Blvd in Highland Park, Thank You is SHQ’s shiny new sister store. It’s stocked with the latest comics and graphic novels and the raddest minis and zines. Over the next few weeks we’ll be adding more magazines, novels, art books, photo books, and all manner of pretty things to hold and read.
This Saturday is the NELAart gallery night and art walk in Highland Park and Eagle Rock, so it’s the perfect chance to check out Thank You for the first time.

Well, if they buy those cheap “Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!” bags that a lot of retail stores use, it’ll appear to be a store bag. :)
