  1. cant praise this book enough! and quick self plug if i may…we just had alison bechdel on Comic News Insider in our most recent episode 91. she rocks!

  2. sorry to be nit-picky, but just wanted to let you know it says “gun home” at the beginning of the article instead of “fun home”. sorry for being nerdy about that, thanks for the news!

  3. “Genre-busting memoir”?!?! What genres were “busted”? This is silly…

…thanks for the heads up abut the book tour, though.

  4. i almost got this book, but as grat as it looked, I just couldn’t bring myself to pick up a book about a lesbian who comes out to her dad only to find out he’s gay. it just has nothing to do with how i grew up. but since it looked fantastic, I may have to pick it up next week.

  5. “I just couldn’t bring myself to pick up a book about a lesbian who comes out to her dad only to find out he’s gay.”

FUN HOME is so much more than that. It’s about finding out your parents are human, that you yourself are human, and coming to terms with all of it.

Really, it’s one of the best books in any medium I’ve ever read.

  6. …and besides, do you only read books about people exactly like yourself? One of the reasons to experience any work of art (literature, film, comics) is to live in the skin of somebody else for a while, to understand the perspective of another, etc.

And Martha is right — it is about so much more. Easily in the top two or three graphic novels I’ve ever read.
