Above, this year’s Grand Prix winners Charles Berberian(L) and Philippe Dupuy(R) stand beside last year’s, Jose Munoz. The winning cartooners really do come out on a balcony and address the throng; that is why Angoulême is the true pinnacle of the comics year.
Tom covers the early linkage, including this really stunning one of the local festivities surrounding the show.

In this site there are lots of works of Dupuy and Berberian:

Wait, are we sure that’s really Jose Munoz, or is it just Keith Giffen in a Jose Munoz mask?
I just got back last night. Amazing event, a lot of hard work, very different from SDCC. Lots of Chinese and Japanese comics. My publisher (Dargaud) tells me the majority of BD sales in the French market are now coming from manga.
