TweetWhen IDW recently announced their massive sales numbers for My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, one of our commenters wondered if there would be a “Mars Attacks My Little Pony”. Guess what?

NYCC 12: NYCC Team addresses cosplay, crowding, first aid kits

visigoths

TweetAt one of the last panels of the day, Lance Fensterman and his executive staff sat down and received criticism, kudos, and suggestions from convention attendees. The panelists (biographies from ReedPop): Lance Fensterman is Group VP of Reed Pop which means he oversees the team and events on a day to day basis. He also works [...]

NYCC12: Day Four

The Lego mural, at 10:48
As you can see, it is made of 8x8-stud tiles, each stud a single one-stud brick assembled by attendees (I did two on Thursday).
On the other side was the Lego store, and more vertical stud wall where attendees could build with bricks. Most produced Lego-graffiti. I went three-dimensional.

TweetSo I got to bed at Three AM (yeah, late night blogging…I lead such a glamorous life), and got out at Eight.  Napping on the subway, my subconscious woke me up at Times Square, and I had to wonder… had I slept through to Monday?  No, the crowded Sunday subway train was packed full of [...]

NYCC12: Day 3: It’s Getting Crazy…

SAMSUNG

TweetOkay… again, I got up at a decent hour, and made it to the show around 11.  I made the mistake of having the taxi let me off at the curb near the Yellow entrance, and someone with a megaphone berated me.  (Hey, if that’s a problem, get the police to direct traffic.  The taxi [...]

NYCC12: Day Two in Words and Pictures

The Hall of Justice. Look! Up in the sky!

TweetToday, I got to the show at around 11:30. As I tried to hurry to the Andrews McMeel booth to get a book signed, I was amazed at the number of people wandering around.  Shouldn’t they be at work on a Friday? Anyway, the crowds were not so thick that I could not crowd surf, [...]

NYCC12: Day One in Photos

(No, not where you check your coat.) This is new, and I don't think ReedPop advised attendees. This exists at every entrance. Will it cause a backlog? No idea, but either come early, or stroll in later.

TweetMost of the first day was spent wandering the show floor from Three to Nine, checking out the big booths before the maddening hordes arrive tomorrow. Here are some photos.  Taken from my cellphone.  Sorry about the resolution. Any pics you’ve found online?  Feel free to share yours!

NYCC12: New Kid In Town: New Exhibitors at Comic Con

nook

TweetSo today starts the seventh New York Comic Con.  Unlike San Diego, it’s still not too difficult for a company to rent a booth on the show floor.  (When the show map app went live a week ago, there were about an aisle’s worth of empty booths available.) The My Show Planner is quite an [...]

NYCC12: Survival Guide

20111123-Wiki C Men with tea Sichuan 1908

Tweet Okay, the professionals at Reed Pop have posted their survival tips, and it’s pretty good, covering most of the particulars. As you can see by the map above, once again there are colored entrances.  (No, not like that… well, kinda.)  Pros and VIPs enter through the Blue Entrance, and line up right outside Hall [...]

NYCC 12: Day -1: Pre-Show Photos!

The view from "2A"

TweetOkay… I’m a bit confused…  there is no “Day Zero” (unless that’s the early morning hours leading up to “zero hour” when the show opens).  So, I’m counting Tuesday as “Day Minus Two” with GallaCon, and today as “Day Minus One” with the ICV2 Conference. As with last year, I wandered around Javits, snapping a [...]

Today is Torsten Day at Stately Beat Manor!

SAMSUNG

TweetLast year, The Beatrix proclaimed October 10th “Torsten Day”, so I thought, “Why not make it an ongoing celebration?”

Fool’s Gold: Searching for Longbox Treasure: Asbury Park Comic Con, Part 2

superman 261

TweetWhen last we saw our stalwart treasure seeker, he was riding the subway, reading comics which he had found in the discount bins at a comics convention a beer bottle’s throw from the Asbury Park boardwalk. What tawdry tales did he thumb through while riding the rails to and from work? What four-color fictions fed [...]
