TweetAnd the transmedia streak continues.  Valiant has confirmed the Deadline| Hollywood report to me that a Shadowman film is indeed in pre-production.

Future of Valiant Highlights

XO_009_002_003

TweetAt the Future of Valiant panel, Valiant is continuing to build out their universe.  This isn’t incredibly different from how the original Valiant universe sprung up.  Perhaps, this is at a slightly slower pace.  If you’ve been reading the Valiant titles in the last couple months, you’ll have noticed the world building leaking over between [...]

Diamond retailer breakfast: Dynamite, BOOM!, and Valiant all joining the FOC program

diamond2912.jpg

TweetAt the Diamond Retailer appreciation breakfast this morning, after being forced to surrender phones and become sequestered behind a blast shield door, attendees were treated to some new footage from IRON MAN 3 which included the scene of Tony Stark getting his suit on to the strains of the Run DMC classic “Christmas in Hollis” [...]

NYCC Exclusive – Quantum & Woody at Valiant – Updated

QW_#1_cvr1

TweetBy Todd Allen The comment section has been clamoring for new about what the revived Valiant is planning on doing with Quantum and Woody.  If you haven’t experienced Q&W, it was a comic that ran at the second incarnation of Valiant from ’97-’00 with a a one year gap in the middle.  It was a buddy [...]

Shadowman's "Blackout" Cover and The Eternal Warrior at Baltimore

beat-default

TweetBy Todd Allen Valiant’s roll out continues.  If you’re familiar with the original, you caught an Eternal Warrior reference in the first issues of Archer and Armstrong.  Sure enough, on Saturday’s Valiant panel at the Baltimore Comic-Con (2PM), there’s going to be an announcement about “Wrath of the Eternal Warrior.”  Also some surprise guests.  Given that [...]

Nanites and Mindwipes: A Bloodshot #1 Review

beat-default

Something that may have gotten lost in the shuffle of Comicon was the release of Bloodshot #1, the third title from Valiant’s relaunch. Valiant went raiding Marvel again for the creative team: Duane Swierczynski (Iron Fist, Cable, and more recently Birds of Prey) is the writer, Manuel Garcia (probably best known for runs on Raven and Checkmate) is penciling with Arturo Lozzi, Stefano Gaudiano (all sorts of Marvel titles… plus X-O Manowar) is inking.

Harbinger #3 Preview

beat-default

I’ve been handed a preview for Harbinger #3 by Joshua Dysart, Khari Evans and Lewis LaRosa, due out on August 15th. In this chapter, our hero finally lands at the Harbinger Foundation. As I’ve said before, and probably will be saying for the foreseeable future, this is a comic that does not flinch at embracing the dark side of super powers. It looks like the slow build towards a particularly twisted conflict of moral agendas is picking up a little momentum.

Shadowman #1 Confirmed For November Plus Preview Art

beat-default

TweetBy Todd Allen That teaser from Tuesday was indeed Shadowman.  Looks like Valiant is doing a launch, not a spin-off as November will see Shadowman #1.  Writing is by Justin Jordan.  Art is by Patrick Zircher. This is the second recent announcement for Jordan.  He’s probably best known for The Strange Talent of Luther Strode [...]

Valiant’s being a big tease again. I was sent the following graphic with the tagline, “Shadows fall this November.”

Harbinger #2 Preview

beat-default

Enough Marvel news for today. Valiant has slipped us a 5-page preview for the second issue of their surprisingly dark teen psychic book, Harbinger. Looks like the alternate cover gives us a peek at the new Harbinger uniform. Regarding the first page (and the extent to which this is a really dark take on the original) — the young lady is our hero’s early childhood crush and he sort of… gave her an attitude adjustment.

Archer & Armstrong #1 – Five Page Preview (Lettered)

Archer & Armstrong will be the latest Valiant book getting the revival treatment. The original A&A was a Barry Windsor-Smith book. It was also a book with a sense of humor about itself. An immortal of slovenly bent and an uptight martial artist. Yes, this was the comics version of a buddy movie.

Valiant has released the following line with this image: “Are you different? Meet Faith Herbert this September, only in Harbinger #4.”

Valiant Comics’ relaunch has now expanded even further, with the announcement of an apparent new Ninjak series coming out in September.

Valiant Launch Part II: Reviewing Harbinger #1

Last month, Valiant had a pretty successful start, with X-O Manowar selling out 45K copies and going into a 2nd printing. This week, the second Valiant title dropped, in the form of Harbingers #1. Let’s have a look at it.
