Amory01CovIndie band Coheed and Cambria’s Claudio Sanchez is one of a growing number of musical stars who itch to create their own comics. Indeed C&C have been putting out graphic novels, illustrated by folks like Christopher Shy, along with their albums for some time. Perhaps Sanchez can join other comics-creating tunesmiths MCR’s Gerard Way and Gene Simmons to have a battle of the comic book bands! That would be cute!

Coheed and Cambria is one of the more formidable rock bands in the world today, with two gold records under their belt, a new album in the fall, and a rabid, loyal fan-base. The band’s frontman, Claudio Sanchez, is known for his ability to craft amazing stories with his lyrics. Now he’s taking those stories and transforming them into comic books in THE AMORY WARS.

Sanchez had this to say: “œTHE AMORY WARS is the overall title of the mythology that surrounds Coheed and Cambria. Bringing this story to life on the printed page, exactly the way I’ve always envisioned it, is very exciting to me.”

Claudio’s own Evil Ink Comics has teamed up with Image Comics and 12 Gauge Comics for a June debut. THE AMORY WARS chronicles the life and death of Coheed and Cambria, a young couple who discover their lives have been a lie, that memories have been imprinted on their past, and that their future is tied to a deeper — and perhaps more sinister — purpose within the universe. The series is edited by acclaimed writer David Tischman.

12 Gauge President Keven Gardner said, “This is an exciting project and I’m thrilled that 12 Gauge Comics is working with such a great group. Claudio is an incredibly talented creator and having someone as well-respected as David Tischman at the point assures quality at every step.”

Covers are provided by Eisner-award nominated artist Tony Moore.

“I’ve been a huge fan of Tony’s for years and I love the work he’s been doing on Fear Agent,” Sanchez said. “I feel honored to have someone of his caliber associated with THE AMORY WARS.”

With an official launch set for June, THE AMORY WARS is poised to take both the comic book world and the music world by storm. In addition to comic-convention and in-store appearances to promote the series (official announcements coming soon), comic book retail sales will be supported by sales on the nationwide Warped Tour (which Coheed will be headlining) this summer, and through major retailer Hot Topic.

THE AMORY WARS is a five-issue, full-color miniseries debuting this June from Image Comics. For more information on the comic series, please visit www.evilinkcomics.net and www.12gaugecomics.com

  1. If it’s anything like their music then it’ll be…..not very interesting. I saw these guys last summer and when they took the stage I thought we were finally set for some serious metal, and then, not so much. I hope they do well.

  2. I think that the comics are going to be great. I love the story nad the band is an amazing progressive rock group. I dont know how it will compair from the bag.online.adventures books though but i have confedence in Claudio %110

  3. All opinions aside, Claudio Sanchez has brought together two marvels of the world that have the greatest effect on people: Visual Arts & Performing Arts.
And with the strong fellowship of fans that has accumulated over the years, this merge of the arts, is welcomed with such excitement and inquiry.
Fans of the music enjoy the lyrical plot in the songs, (which tend to be vague, for the sake that the songs also depict other, less, narritive meanings) and what better way to reintroduce the plot in its entirety than in art! The comic book would take art and music together to a whole new level!

Claudio Sanchez could be considered one of the most Progressive Artist of our time! Between Coheed & Cambria becomming the most progressive rock band of this generation with thier growing Neo-Classical Rock style, and the vast imagination of Claudio Sanchez bringing the story to life in comic book form, there is only good to come of it. With enough comic book lovers to enjoy the intense, sci-fi masterpiece, the story will flourish. With enough fans of the music the the story will still flourish. And with the two worlds colliding, both fan bases will share a common ground and most certianly join together!

  4. hey you know what?
you impudent human creatures who dare to insult
    Coheed & Cambria
go shove a fucking stick up your ass
    and go jack off.
Because nobody insults a wonderful story
plus maybe you might enjoy that stick so firmly
up your ass because you like hard and stiff things
    in your ass fucking faggot.
This is a Beautifully designed and told story
and if you aren’t here to support
get the hell out of here and
don’t even ATTEMPT to ruin it for the rest of us
    you god damned spoiled brat!

  5. Claudio Is considered one of the most Progressive Artist of our time! Between his wonderful writing abilities and amazing vocals there is no wonder y the bands fan base has grown so dramaticlly! I myself hadn’t heard of the band till I got with my husband since thn I hav ben hookd! All I listen. To is coheed all day every day
