Nominations for the Harvey Awards are closing this Friday. With all the nominating irregularities in recent years, I strongly advise getting together a few friends and nominating yourselves, as long as your friends include Naoki Urasawa, Jaime Hernandez, Kate Beaton, Matt Fraction, Jill Thompson, Robert Crumb, Bryan Lee O’Malley and so on.

I’m dead serious. Only WE can save the Harveys.

Comments

  1. I’d sure love a Harvey nomination for my 1000 COMIC BOOKS YOU MUST READ, but having seen the CBG Fan Awards hijacked from time to time, I’m not sure I like the idea of getting one’s pals to gang vote for you.

Unless, of course, my pals didn’t tell me they were doing it.

  2. Is my life-changing Werewolf By Night one-pager with Stephanie Buscema from last year’s Marvel Holiday Spectacular eligible?

  3. THE ACT-I-VATE PRIMER [published by IDW] would make for a nice anthology nomination.

  4. Ben,

There’s no “Best Werewolf” category, so sorry.

    (vote’THEBIGKAHN’forbestgraphicnovel!)

  5. Jackie Estrada says:

Batton Lash’s webcomic http://www.supernaturallaw.com isn’t eligible for the Eisners (conflict of interest!) but please consider nominating it for the Harvey webcomics category.

  6. some good stuff out there…but my vote goes for amanda conner for best artist…lol.

  7. Jackie Estrada says:

I beat you to it–voted for Amanda in my ballot sent in yesterday!

  8. May I humbly point out that Kevin Cannon’s FAR ARDEN is readable in full online? http://www.kevincannon.org/288hour/

I should also mention that Eddie Campbell’s ALEC: THE YEARS HAVE PANTS came out at the very tail end of 2009 and so is eligible.

  9. I’m not going to say anything about a comic I work on that is also eligible.

  10. Jeffy says:

I’m voting for Cry For Justice

  11. COUGH**Everything Dies by Box Brown for best new series***COUGH

  12. Heidi, I was concerned when your initial blurb ended with ‘I’m dead…’ The Harveys haven’t gotten that bad, have they?

  13. supernatural law got my vote

  14. Please consider…
“Secret Identity: The Fetish Art of Superman’s Co-Creator” is elegible for Best Domestic Reprint, Best Predentation, Best Historical Presentation. The book showcases the brilliant Joe Shuster at the peak of his terrific artistic power. It uncovers a previously unknown large body of work by the art creator of Superman, superheroes and virtually the entire comics industry. This material is a key piece of comics history, figuring into comics’ most seminal srtist, the Comics Code and a landmark Supreme Court censorship case. It is the most thorough lavishly illustrated bio of the great Joe Shuster to date. Thank you!

  15. David Gallaher says:

The truth of the matter is that there were more than seven or eight people who did outstanding work last year – and here are more projects on my ballot that I wanted to include, but couldn’t find the space. Sure, there are a few people I nominated that I consider friends (I cast a nomination for BAYOU, for example, which I think is a damn fine book) – but I was honest with my nomination, and I hope other are too …

I don’t mind that some creators have sent ‘For Your Consideration’ letter out this year. As I’ve said people, there were a lot of great projects in 2009 – and there were several I know I had forgotten when I mad my initial draft of candidates.

This year, there seems to more participation than ever before – and that’s GREAT! But, people will still moan and complain about the final nomination list regardless.

  16. For your consideration…

Knights of the Lunch Table #2 : The Dragon Players

BEST ORIGINAL PUBLICATION for YOUNGER READERS

    Many Thanks and Hail Ming!
