Image are unveiling a whole load of new comics at their Expo today. Next up comes Velvet, a spy series from Ed Brubaker and Steve Epting.
Focusing on a Moneypenny-esque secretary who works for a spy agency, Velvet will see the eponymous heroine forced to go on the run:
She leaves her desk job and has to go on the run into the field against her own agents. Imagine Bond or MI done in a true Cold War scenario.

Brubaker says that he’s been wanting to do this series for a long time – but only so long as Epting was there to draw. The pair waited out Epting’s Marvel contract in order to finally get the book underway.
Will buy. It’s kind of funny in that it sounds like “stereotypical Brubaker” (i.e. “against her own agents”, which he’s done once or twice before) but I’ll still buy it anyway.
