If you have been confused by the news of the imminent oblivion the world faces at the hands of the supercollider, now there is a comic book to explain it in the words and pictures method that we postliterates require. Jorge Cham of PHD Comics took a trip to the CERN supercollider, and made a comic about it.

  1. That’s really cool–but I’m also still looking everywhere for the “Carlo the physicist” comic that one of the scientists made that was in the story last week. AP is such a tease.

  2. …and some contend the experiment can create a black hole…we’ll see…hey, wasn’t there a post about the ‘Black Hole’ movie a few days ago? Hmmm….maybe Disney knows something….

  3. Piled Higher and Deeper is a pretty cool comicstrip, even if you’ve spent more time in college sleeping instead of studying.

And here’s what great literature has to say on the subject:
“There is a theory which states that if ever anyone discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable.
There is another theory which states that this has already happened.

There is a third theory which suggests that both of the first two theories were concocted by a wily editor of The Hitch-Hiker’s Guide to the Galaxy in order to increase the universal level of uncertainty and paranoia and so boost the sales of the Guide. This last theory is of course the most convincing as The Hitch-Hiker’s Guide to the Galaxy is the only book in the whole of the known universe to have the words DON’T PANIC inscribed in large friendly letters on the cover.”
