A couple of comments on the list. Firstly, it’s always a good reminder of how timeless kids’ entertainment is that there’s a nomination for Calvin and Hobbes here when that strip hasn’t been produced in 13 years, but lives on through timeless trade paperbacks.
Also, it is high time that SOME comics awards mentioned Wolverine’s back hair, and the Eisners, Wizards, and Harveys should all be ashamed that they didn’t get there first.
I am considering calling for a boycott on the account of Storm being nominated for best hair and not Rogue. I mean, c’mon, Storm’s hair isn’t that interesting!
Not like Peanuts has been having new material lately, either.
I really hope I don’t win ‘grossest thing in comics’… again. (sob)
Everyone should vote in this, even if it’s to vote against Tokyopop, they’re “bribing” readers into voting for their books in order to have the voters enter a special contest.

Uh… while it is geared towards kids, I did vote. (I read the magazine too, so shouldn’t I be allowed to vote?)

maybe all the animators who were just fired by nick could vote?!
Aren’t they starting a bit early to teach a prejudice against back hair?
Can they be more random? I love Calvin and Hobbes, but it doesn’t deserve to be on this list. If anything gibe it an honorary award as such. Same goes for Bone. (Funny enough, I first read it in competing magazine Disney Adventures. I believe Heidi here was responsible for that.) And.. Garfield? Really? At least Fox Trot’s still doing new Sunday strips.
I know, it’s Nickelodeon Magazine, which somehow has been shorted to Nick Mag since I read it back in the day. (Wow. Are our attention spans that bad now?) Ugh. A million other nitpicks. The comic book series listing is just so damn generic. Batman? Star Wars? Archie? Those aren’t series, they’re general franchises.
And yeah, that dig against people and ethnicities with back hair did feel pretty insulting. Bad enough Hugh Jackman’s so hairless in the movies. Stupid sexy Hugh Jackman.
