200701111130Actor Alan Cumming–who donned the blue paint to play Nightcrawler in X-Men 2–has wed his boyfriend of two years, Grant Shaffer, whom news reports dub an illustrator. If you check Shaffer’s website, you’ll see a whole comics section, and he’s contributed to the anthology BLURRED VISION, and has a graphic novel, entitled 30 Kinds of Passion coming out next year. So you see, cartooners, you have as much shot at a movie star as anyone!

ShafferThe couple were wed in London, but reside in New York, so maybe they’ll be out at Comic-con next month!

The wedding ceremony was held at the Old Royal Naval College in Greenwich, just down the Thames from London. Guest included actor Sir Ian McKellen, former Spice Girl Geri Halliwell, actress Neve Campbell, Rufus Wainwright and Monica Lewinsky. The Scottish actor wore a custom-made oatmeal colored linen kilt suit while his partner wore a black-striped suit. Some highlights of the day include a string quartet playing the theme song to Cumming’s 1995 film “Circle of Friends” as the pair walked down the aisle, Queen’s “You’re My Best Friend” playing at the end of the ceremony ad the newlyweds’ nontraditional first skate on a rented ice rink.

Congrats to both.
