I wanted to let you know that I will be promoting my new children’s book FRANKIE PICKLE AND THE CLOSET OF DOOM at NYCC. The actual book doesn’t come out until May 5th, but we will be giving out galleys at the Simon & Schuster booth (#1402). I’ll also be doing a signing there Sunday at 2:30 for kid’s day. I’ve attached the cover and teaser poster. It’s a hybrid chapter book/graphic novel targeted at elementary school aged kids. The hope is to not only to get more kids excited about comics, but also excited about reading in general.

Steven T. Seagle of Man of Action (it’s a bird…, American Virgin, Sandman Mystery Theater) and partner in Man of Action Studios (creators of the hit Cartoon Network shows Ben 10 and Ben 10:Alien Force, and creative consultants on Animal Planet’s forthcoming Dark Days in Monkey City) will make his first east coast comics convention appearance in over a decade at the New York City Comic Convention.

The appearance, made in conjunction with fellow Man Of Action Joe Kelly (Spider-Man, I Kill Giants, Bad Dog) coincides with the release of Soul Kiss, Seagle’s first release under the Man Of Action Comics imprint published through Image Comics. “I don’t really make the convention rounds, but a majority of the emails I receive are from east coast fans and so I’m really looking forward to getting the chance to meet some of them in person this year and sign some books,” said Seagle. Seagle and Kelly, who met during a run on Marvel’s X-Men books will be appearing at the Image Comics Booth, and will be stationed at a Man Of Action table in Artists Alley with Kelly. Both will be participants at the Image Comics panel as well, where they will announce new projects.

Brian Wood will be giving a writing seminar, as he posts on his blog.

I will be at the NYCC in Booth #2454 with my 3 partners: Ben Granoff, Adam Garcia, and Greg Mayer as we represent Bag and Board Studios. We will be premiering a brand new 50+ page sampler with all our various work inside. I will also be premiering my marijuana adventure comic called “Dingleberry Blues.” Please feel free to stop by (we’ll be right across from the ridiculous Jim Lee line).

  1. Thanks, Heidi. I just found out I’ll also be on the panel “The Multicultural Mask” on Sunday, 11:15 – 12:15, room 1A17, along with Perry Moore, Greg Pak, and Jann Jones, moderated by Jeff Yang. We’ll be discussing the diversification of comics in recent years; it should be interesting.

(Jamal Igle, my old collaborator on FIRESTORM, was supposed to do the panel, but he had a conflict. So you get the white boy instead!)
