Summit Entertainment has just announced that RED 2, the sequel to RED, will be released on August 2nd of 2013.

The first film, very loosely based on the Warren Ellis/Cully Hamner miniseries, came out last year, and scored a surprise hit with its tale of over-the-hill spies (Bruce Willis, Helen Mirren, et al.) getting back together for one more gig.

The sequel was greenlit back in January with the same screenwriters as the OG, Jon and Erich Hoeber, but little information has been released since then except for the fact that Willis will return. The rest of the cast is unknown, although the logline reads: “The sequel to the action-comedy hit RED, which reunites our team of retired CIA operatives as they use their old-school style to take on a new set of enemies all across Europe.” suggesting some of the old team will re-reunite. No director has been set, although the name Breck Eisner was once floated.

The ENDER’S GAME film, directed by Gavin Hood from the Orson Scott Card novel, is set for March 13, 2013.

  1. Yeah ! Another Red

I loved the first movie, old men kicking young guys ass. Was I the only who cheered when Frank Moses kicked the living crap out of Cooper.

  2. Good Lord. Could this site be any more boring if it tried? It’s gotten so bad I have to go read the hacks at CBR and Comics Alliance for cheap thrills. Pick it up people!
