SDCC ’13: It was the year of the Vikings Interactive Waterway

Yes, that is what they will remember this year’s San Diego for. The Year the Vikings arrived, bold conquerors, mighty thewed, red hair flowing beneath their beaten helms, as they offered a fully interactive experience straight off the History Channel.

AKA Travis Fimmel alert.

What will the Vikings bring on their proud ships?

¶ A comic book! It was written by series creator/writer Michael Hirst. You can get it for FREE when you go to another Vikings event at Con! Here is the mighty cover. Looks like it was drawn by our pal Dennis Calero. Go Dennis!

¶ A panel! 7/19, 6-7 p.m., Top Level, Room 6A – VIKINGS PANEL – Stars Travis Fimmel, Katheryn Winnick, Clive Standen, Gustaf Skarsgard, George Blagden, Jessalyn Gilsig join VIKINGS Writer & Creator Michael Hirst and Dirk Hoogstra, EVP and General Manager, HISTORY will shout their viking shouts and cry for mead.

¶ Most unforgettable of all…VIKINGS INTERACTIVE WATERWAY! Comely shield maidens will greet you as you race ships on ACTUAL WATER. A photo will give you a keepsake of this magic moment.

Where will this waterway be found? As far as we can make out, that lot on 2nd Avenue where the History Channel had their barbecue last year. The lot where I had that burrito. I wish I had a keepsake of THAT.

The cast will be appearing on 7/19 from 11 a.m.-12:00 p.m.

Now I have a confession to make. When the Vikings launched on the History Channel, I watched the first episode and it was pretty good, but I only have so much attention to give to TV shows. But then I thought “I bet this show is going to be all over Comic-Con so maybe I should watch it so I can recognize the actors when I run into them at the Wired Cafe.”

I never got back to watching the show. But I will be at the Waterway. And I will be interactive, you betcha.
