§ Marvel apparently has decided that coughing up enough money for a nine picture deal for Samuel L. Jackson is a very good idea. Jackson will reprise his role as Nick Fury in a flurry of films, including IRON MAN 2, THOR, CAPTAIN AMERICA, THE AVENGERS, and any sequels. An actual S.H.I.E.L.D. movie is also a possibility.,

§ SUICIDE SQUAD is the latest DC-based movie to be announced, with Dan Lin (SHERLOCK HOLMES, TERMINATOR: SALVATION) as producer. Justin Marks (20,000 LEAGUES UNDER THE SEA, HACK/SLASH, STREET FIGHTER) is on board as screenwriter. The Suicide Squad, for those not versed in DC-ology, are a bunch of villains who are sprung from prison to accomplish a task too dangerous for heroes.

  1. I’m betting that when & if Marvel’s Ultimate line ever ends, the Jackson!Fury might be one of the few characters to jump over to the regular ‘verse. Why? He’s already made one world-hop last I checked, 616-Fury is Old&Tired & only smiles when appearing in Garth Ennis comics or cosplaying as Dirk Anger, plus now Fury will be cemented in the greater public’s consciousness as looking like bad-ass, supercool Sam Jackson.

  2. Suicide Squad is a natural for the movies. If done well, it could spawn a nice mini franchise. A better use for DC villains than that Green Arrow prison movie!

Sorry… forgot to say great post – can’t wait to read your next one!

  4. “See what happens when David Haseloff can’t pick himself off the floor?”

Say what you will, but he did make a great Nick Fury. Oh yeah. I think you know it’s true.

Well, it’ll be a Hell of a lot better than going to a comic book store for the first time (after coming out of The Dark Knight) to find that Batman is no longer in his own comics… because he’s dead. As for Ultimate Nick, well we all knew what Marvel had in mind from the first time we saw him.

Yeah, Hasselhoff wasn’t bad … they could have had a better script … too bad we’re switching over to the “super bad-ass” Ultimate Fury.

  6. Suicide Squad will get made, but instead of super-villains, they’ll be “assassins”… :)

I don’t even read Wanted, but I was offended by that.
