Submissions Are Open for Erotica Anthology ‘Smut Peddler 2014′

Smut Peddler, the lady-led erotic anthology edited by Johanna Draper Carlson and C. Spike Trotman, will be returning in 2014 for a new volume. And to set up for that launch, an open call for submissions from women and female/male creative teams has been put out. The anthology will feature probably quite filthy work from creators including Faith Erin Hicks, Jen Vaughn, Jess Fink and Kate Leth.

A proposal deadline for stories has been set as the 15th October, and every story selected for the anthology will be paid a starting rate as well as a possible commission based on the overall success of the volume. Smut Peddler is an erotica anthology, defining itself as “sex-positive, fun, inclusive, and erotic”. The submissions are open primarily for female creators, although men are allowed to help as part of a team.

You can find more details about submitting your proposals over at Carlson and Trotman’s sites.

  1. Mikael says:

    I’m offended.

  2. Gianni says:

Gotta find a submission process that explicitly states its just for men, or must have a men in the team, then I’ll say “feminism, you are doing it rigth!”

  3. There’s never a need to explicitly exclude women, that happens by default when there’s a male editor and a flood of male submissions intended for a male audience.

Smut Peddler‘s “she” requirement is part of what makes it work for its audience, of women who like women-made porn (and men who like the same stuff): the assurance that it’ll be the kind of porn they like, not the kind they usually get.

  4. Hmmm… I gotta find a female writer and get in on this!

  5. Sounds great :) Are there any past anthologies available at this time? Although I’m a man (and so cannot take part) I’d be very interested to see the results. So much erotica is male created or aimed at men-Can’t wait to see how this turns out-should be very cool :)
