Sigh… if only I could go to France for this alone.
I first discovered Murakami’s work years and years ago at my local art museum. A Mr DOB statue of his was in the Japanese exhibit halls along with a few other works. Walking through you saw a row of anchiet samurai armor, then in the middle was Murakami’s cartoon mascot. I was hooked. Not long after they expanded to a full Murakami exhibit and the man himself showed up to speak. I was a few people away from getting a signature on his art book when he had to run to the airport. It’s amazing how famous he’s become since then.
