It’s going to be a big year for Jane Austen, but then every year seems to be a big year for Jane Austen — people just never get tired of adapting her works. In fact Trina Robbins and Anne Timmons are creating a graphic novel adaptation of her Gothic parody NORTHANGER ABBEY for Graphic Classics. Tafrin has a few pages up at her blog.
This looks great, and I love Northanger Abbey.
Thanks for this news — somehow I’d never heard of Graphic Classics before.
For those who don’t click on the Graphic Classics link, Northanger Abbey will be one of several stories in the Gothic Classics volume, coming out in May. The Graphic Classics series is a neat way to get graphic adaptations of classic short stories by authors such as Doyle, Poe, Wells, even Sabatini (gee, I never thought of Captain Blood as a classic, just a great swashbuckler).
The cover and the story Carmilla is illustrated by my good friend and great illustrtor Lisa K. Webber! I love Graphic Classics and I can’t wait for this to come out!
