What a way to start off Book Expo America! For more than two decades, Chip Kidd has been designing book covers and jackets for some of the most renowned works of our time. Finally, Kidd’s newest release, BATMAN: DEATH BY DESIGN, is coming out with a bang, joining up with the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund, for  a night to remember.

A VIP cocktail reception starts at 7 PM. Kidd will present a behind-the-scenes look at creating this book, and all attendees will receive an extremely limited copy of BATMAN: DEATH BY DESIGN, with an exclusive signed and numbered bookplate, designed by Mr. Kidd. These bookplated editions are extremely limited, and will be available one time only. Hors d’Oeuvres will be served. This is a ticketed event, with limited admission available for a $50 donation to the CBLDF.

At 8:30 pm, an open release party and book signing will begin. Copies of BATMAN: DEATH BY DESIGN will be available at the venue! (No ticket needed for this portion of the evening, but a suggested donation at the door is appreciated)

In collaboration with artist Dave Taylor, Kidd’s BATMAN: DEATH BY DESIGN tells of Gotham City’s newest and expansive renovations, with Bruce Wayne as the chairman of Gotham Landmarks Commission. Hoping to take Gotham City into a new industrial revolution, his plans are thwarted as all malfunctions explode across the city, leading to an uncontrollable amount of casualties and catastrophes. It is now up to Batman to unravel this technological disaster and stop it before it’s too late.
