Wizard World LA kicks off this weekend and the buzz is pretty subdued, but we’re sure folks will have a fun time anyway. The guest list is pretty extensive, there will be lots of nerdlebrities signing — including Virgil! — and we expect a lot of spy reports on attendance. We also have a few previews which follow this post.
David Arquette will be there to talk about his movie THE TRIPPER, which if nothing else, has some cool posters.
Tripper

Film star David Arquette is set to appear at Wizard World Los Angeles for a special panel to promote his newest film, “The Tripper.” Writer, producer and director of “The Tripper,” Arquette will be on hand with actors Brad Hunt, Paul Reubens and executive producer Steve Niles to field questions from the fans and show clips from their latest work.

A panel for “The Tripper” is scheduled for Saturday, March 17th from 12 – 1 p.m. to be followed by a special autograph signing, featuring Arquette and crew.

  1. Lovely blotter paper. Something tells me if it’s a David Arquette film you best hope there is something on that paper! Flashbacks of “See Spot Run” might leave audience members frightened.

  2. “Subdued” because we Southern Californians are saving our energy and money for San Diego. I might go to WWLA for a day, because it’s less crowded, and thus there’s more time to chat with popular creators. But with little in the way of small press presence (no Oni Press, no SLG, …), I’m not highly motivated.

  3. I avoid any comic book convention that has a ‘brand’ name on it.

Wizard spelled sideways, backwards and forwards spells doom for hard working ‘independent creators’ looking for a honest break everywhere.
