The nominees for the 2012 Glyph Awards—honoring the best in comics’ portrayal of African-Americans—and as you might expect, ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN by Bendis and Pichelli garnered a ton of noms, as did PRINCELESS, an indie that has been garnering much praise of late.

The awards will be presented on May 18 at the East Coast Black Age of Comics Convention (ECBACC) in Philadelphia. Nominees were picked by a judging panel consisting of Omar Bilal, webmaster, BlackSuperhero.com; Robin Brenner, editor-in-chief, NoFlyingNoTights.com; David Brothers, comics blogger, 4thLetter.com; and Tim Callahan, comics blogger, Comic Book Resources. A fifth judge, Karen Green, did not take part in the voting and has been removed from the panel.

Also of note, awards administrator Rich Watson is stepping down after this year.
