“Last year I had the pleasure of moderating the Doctor Who panel at Wondercon, and saw some amazing booths & people walking the show floor. At the time, I had only wished that this Con was closer to where I live in L.A. With the news that it had moved to Anaheim in 2012, I can only infer that I willed this into reality. Naturally, I’m super-excited—both for the southern migration of Wondercon and my weird new psionic power.” –Chris Hardwick.

  1. “Dennis Calero is the award winning.. During his tenure on X-Factor the title was nominated for the Harvey Award for Best New Series (2006)…”

This is hilarious. First off, a nomination to the Harveys does not constitute “award winning,” you actually have to WIN to have been awarded something.

Secondly, in 2006, XFactor was nominated based on the work of original series artist, Ryan Sook. Calero’s first issue did not even come out until AFTER the nominations were already announced.

It’s the equivalent of someone going around saying they’re a Super Bowl Champion, when they were signed to play on the team the following season after. How desperate are people these days?

  2. Please drop by Artist Alley Table Space AA 64, whee I’ll be signing autographs, selling my comics and original artwork and taking art commissions!

Here are the two WonderCon programs I’ll be participating in next weekend:

    Friday, March 16
2:00-3:00 Quick Draw!— It’s another battle to the death with Sharpies at twenty paces! Three of the fastest cartoonists alive draw and duel in what is always a standing-room-only event at Comic-Con in San Diego. This time, we have Scott Shaw! (The Simpsons), Disney legend Floyd Norman, and mighty Mike Kazaleh (Futurama), all sketching like mad on the command of Mark Evanier. If you’ve never seen one of these, you need to experience it! Room 204
Categories: Cartooning and Comic Strips | Comic Books | Special Guest Spotlights & Appearances

    Sunday, March 18
11:30-12:30 Tribute to the Legends: Kirby, Simon, Robinson, and Eisner— We salute four greats of the comic book field. They may not be with us any longer, but their creations will live forever. Mark Evanier, Marv Wolfman, Len Wein, Batton Lash, Scott Shaw!, and others discuss the lives, times, and genius of Jack Kirby, Joe Simon, Jerry Robinson, and Will Eisner. Room 211

  3. This comic convention is going to be weird because it has alot less artists, writers, celebrities, panels, and stuff to buy/look at than at Comic Con or WizardWorld. Yet it will be bigger than Long Beach’s con! Hopefully it will be good because I’ll be going for 2 days. I also doubt it will sell out of tickets.

WonderCon’s celebrity signing list, on the other hand, leave so much to be disired. What I don’t understand is how can the Hollywood Show, WizardWorld, and Comic Con get alot more signing celebrities than WonderCon? That aian’t right! Are most celebrities out there that sign (retired or not) making a ton of tv and/or movies? Ray Park will there at WonderCon, and he just finished staring in G. I. Joe 2. Couldn’t they get a dozen or more tv and/or movie celebrities to sign?
