The first 5,000 WonderCon ’12 attendees to come by comiXology’s booth (#107) will receive a limited edition promotional postcard imprinted with a unique download code redeemable forThe Walking Dead Vol. 1 exclusively on comiXology.com. In partnership with The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman’s Skybound, comiXology is making sure attendees of WonderCon ’12 get a “taste” of the first graphic novel — regularly $8.99 for 140 pages —that the hit The Walking Dead TV show is based on.


That’s just for showing up. It’s comiXology’s first appearance at WonderCon and they’ll be having demos, panels, and so on:

  1. Just to ask the uncomfortable question that can’t be quickly summarized in a tweet:

    The reason one gives away Volume 1 is in the hopes of making money off of Volumes 2 – x.

    But when the artist of Volume 1 wouldn’t be making any money from the sales of Volumes 2 – x, it hardly seems like a fair deal to forego his royalties (60% of profits, in this case) to take the loss on the first volume to make up that money in future sales of books he didn’t do work in and isn’t eligible for royalties from.

    So, is there a deal in place somewhere to compensate Moore for his work that’s being given away for free here?
