If you were wondering when a Game of Thrones comic book would show up, it's been in the works for quite a while from Bantam Books and Dynamite The first issue is due in September. Daniel Abraham writes, Tommy Patterson draws, and Alex Ross and Mike S. Miller will provide the covers. Martin had a previous comics encounter when the Dabel Brothers adapted his Hedge Knight Books.

PR and a three-page preview below. THE BOYS has been Dynamite's most consistent selling comic for several years now; a movie is still in development with Adam McKaye last reported writing a script.

WARLORD OF MARS coming from Dynamite

If you are a long term Beat reader you know that we here at Stately Beat Manor are big fans of the campy yet imaginative John Carter of Mars books by Edgar Rice Burroughs. A John Carter movie is in the works from Pixar, meaning (as we fear) it will be the movie that breaks Pixar's string of making SOME OF THE THE GREATEST MOVIES OF ALL TIME, or maybe....it will be the John Carter movie we've always dreamed of! The first five books in the Mars series -- from A Princess of Mars to Chessmen of Mars -- are actually in the public domain, and so, we have a new Mars series WARLORD OF MARS coming from Dynamite this October.

Dynamite acquires Chaos Comics library

It's the 90s and the "Bad Girl" era of comics all over again, as Dynamite announces they have acquired the Chaos Comics library which in cluded such titles as Evil Ernie, Chastity, Purgatory, and so on. Lady Death, the best known character from Chaos, was not included in the deal. Chaos flourished in the 90s under publisher/chief creator Brian Pulido. Various characters from their library have been controlled in recent years by Tales of Wonder, Crossgen, Devil's Due and Avatar.
