90s nostalgia, baby! Faith No More, a seminal MTV band that had great success with the whole hip hop/metal thing before hip hop won, is back with their first album in 17 years, since 1997's Album of the Year. But a new studio album, Sol Invictus drops on May 19th, and the first single has just debuted on Marvel.com, because a) bassist Bill Gould is a big Kirby/Silver Surfer fan (chatted with in link by Ryan Penagos) and b) the debut single is called "Superhero" and Marvel publishes Superhero comics.

ScarJo is back behind the mic again

Indie band Speedy Ortiz have announced a new album called Foil Deer and they chose to do so via a cute Michael DeForge comic. Because when you think "indie" and "deer" you think "Michael DeForge." The album from the Northhampton, MA-based band drops April 21 from Carpark Records.

The other day we linked to the fine Comic Arts LA poster by Sophia Foster-Dimino. Poking around her website, we found this charming comic about the band Cibo Matto, created for Pitchfork Review. Billed as two Japanese expats singing songs about food, Cibo Matto's 1994 debut Viva! La Woman! is a staple of the 90sscene centering about Grand Royal Records, and led to the haunting Sugar Water video directed my Michel Gondry that features the same footage shown backwards in palindromatic fashion.
