The 2024 Ringo nominations are in! The annual Mike Wieringo Comic Book Industry Awards have posted who is in the running for the eighth edition. Voting by comics industry professionals is open until August 21 and the awards will take place the evening of September 21, at Baltimore Comic-Con.
In a press release announcing the full list, the Ringo Awards said:
“The Ringo Awards are thrilled to announce the 2024 nominees. The nomination process was completed with the participation of our esteemed 2024 jury as well as the voting public. Fans and comic book professionals alike showed strong support in promoting the voting process on their websites and social media feeds.
“Voting on the 2024 Final Ballot is restricted to comic book industry creative community — anyone involved in and credited with creating comics professionally. We now present the 2024 Mike Wieringo Comic Book Industry Awards Final Ballot.”
Baltimore Comic-Con promotor Marc Nathan said about this year’s awards:
“Every year, the Ringo Awards jurors have the difficult task of ‘picking their favorite child’, so to speak. It is always a challenge to determine what makes the cut and what doesn’t, but as you can see from the final ballot, our jury’s hard work paid off and, with the inclusion of the public votes, we have an outstanding representation of some of comics’ best works from 2023. Creators should make their way to the voting site now and make sure your peers do the same!”
The jury this year comprised Alan Gill (Ultimate Comics stores; NCComicon); writer, editor, educator Robert Greenberger; writer, artist, creator, adjunct professor at the School of Visual Arts Jamal Igle (Molly Danger, The Wrong Earth, Black); author, comics and games writer Sam Maggs (Critical Role: The Mighty Nein Origins, Tell No Tales: Pirates of the Southern Seas); and writer-artist Annie Wu (Two Graves, Dead Guy Fan Club).
[Note: The original list did not credit the authors behind nominated works. We have endeavoured to match creative teams to their respective books. In the case of anthologies or books with more than four members, we have placed “various”. There are some exceptions, however. Identifiable US releases of foreign works we have endeavoured to track down and credit translators. ‘Best Design’ category we have endeavoured to find designers]
