Vivian Nguyen is an online freelance character designer and independent comic artist—just check out her bio on Kickstarter. But what you might not know, reader, is that she’s been making waves on Twitter and Instagram for a long time. The point? Her work is nothing short of phenomenal. She’s no stranger to comics, and now, with this latest project, she’s bringing us a 100+ page black-and-white sapphic romance thriller. Originally introduced at the ShortBox Comics Fair in 2024, it’s now set for full production—and the fact that it smashed through funding in just 24 hours, racking up over $29,000 already, is nothing short of incredible. The best way to describe their art is incapsulated in a single word: Kindness. Frankly that alongside a beautiful story is all that was needed to make this project a shine, and you wont regret taking your time to get blinded by it.

Goal: $3,333
End Date: April 2                                                                                                                              Goodies: The digital copy for $2, Get the LCS physical copy for $7, the Wegnar variant for $12, or at higher tiers get the real metal glow issue for $55 and much more!

A series of global catastrophes has left life on Earth decimated and made comic collecting a huge disaster.

This comic has so much grit to it—and I mean that in the best way. LCS: A Post-Apocalypse Comic About Collecting follows a group of Chicago survivors running the Last Comic Shop on Earth, turning a simple supply run into a full-blown rescue mission. And, of course, there’s the never-ending hunt for that last key issue in a wasteland of rubble and Pop Vinyl. Absolutely sold. Issue 2 picks up right where things left off—Cole and Jens are separated at the worst possible time, and if you read the first issue, you know why their divided rescue mission is a big deal. With 24 pages of full-color, high-energy storytelling, this finale is shaping up to be something special. And the rewards? Glow-in-the-dark metal covers? Limited edition? Yeah, you’re gonna want to grab this one while you can.

9mm Girls – Gritty Urban Fantasy Action

Creators:SK6
Goal: $518
End Date: March 21
Goodies: Get the digital copy for $10, the physical copy for $30, the collector card bundle for $35, or at higher tiers get the marked target tier for $35, and much more!

Two friends running a security business face demons and secrets, testing their skills, friendship, and survival in a world of chaos.

9mm Girls grabbed my attention right away, reminding me of Gunsmith Cats—it’s got that perfect mix of strong, independent women and high-octane action. Aya and Hazel, the tough-as-nails duo at the heart of this urban fantasy, run a private security firm in a world where the line between humanity and demons is dangerously blurry. What really sets 9mm Girls apart is its deep character development and the way it explores trust, survival, and the cost of power. It’s not just about demon-slaying action (though there’s plenty of that); it’s about facing fears, unraveling pasts, and questioning what it means to truly survive. I couldn’t help but dive into the project’s explanation of its characters—there’s real heart here, along with fantastic art and a perfect mix of dark humor, intense drama, and emotional depth. It’s one of those comics that makes you sit up and notice, and with its sharp black-and-white visuals, it’s the kind of indie project that reminds me how independent creators can truly rival the big corporations. It’s definitely one to check out and make sure to do it quick it only has one more day and we would be remiss not to mention it on the round-up.
