Dark Horse Books has announced the Beasts of Burden Omnibus for February 2025, and The Beat has all the details.
This nearly 600-page paperback will retail for $29.99. Itcollects the entire Eisner Award-winning series (so far) written by Evan Dorkin, Sarah Dyer, and Mike Mignola, drawn by Jill Thompson and Benjamin Dewey, and lettered by Nate Piekos and Jason Arthur. This includes Animal Rites, Occupied Territory, Neighborhood Watch, and Wise Dogs and Eldritch Men, and several Wise Dogs tie-in stories including a special appearance by Hellboy.
Beasts of Burden follows a group of ordinary dogs and cats living in a small neighborhood in Burden Hill, who are forced to defend their home against supernatural threats like zombie roadkill and demonic frogs. They occasionally seek help from the shamanic “Wise Dogs” and frequently work together to defeat all manner of horrifying creatures.
The characters first appeared in the story “Stray” written by Dorkin and drawn by Thompson in the 2003 Dark Horse Book of Hauntings, then appeared again in The Dark Horse Book of Witchcraft, The Dark Horse Book of the Dead, and The Dark Horse Book of Monsters before appearing in Beasts of Burden #1 in 2009.
