In an episode of The Official Marvel Podcast, MCU overseer Kevin Feige has confirmed the longstanding rumor that the Fantastic Four will take place in an alternate version of the 1960s. Speculation of this alternate 1960s began amongst confirmed movie posters back in February noticed amongst fans, who saw that the artwork in the poster featured buildings that appeared to be slightly different than ones normally expected to see in NYC.

The Fantastic Four are Marvel’s first family, the comics that launched so many of the brand’s staple characters, and Stan Lee and Jack Kirby’s treasure that’s been around since the 1960s. Seeing a timeline dedicated to the heyday of their era is unsurprising given that we’ve already seen two modern renditions between the early 2000s and more recently ten years ago in 2015. Details are scarce regarding the filming of the Fantastic Four other than that it will begin at the end of July on Monday just One day after SDCC wraps.

“Yes, (this is) very much so a period (film) and there’s another piece of art we released with Johnny Storm flying in the air making a (fantastic) four symbol,” said Feige in an interview for episode one of the podcast. “And there’s a cityscape in the corner of that image. People noticed that cityscape didn’t look like the NY we know or the one that existed in the 60’s real world.”

This news was revealed on it during the debut episode of The Official Marvel Podcast, which is a new Marvel original podcast that features behind-the-scenes news, interviews, and exclusives about everything the brand’s numerous subcategories are now up to. So far, it seems the podcast combines Marvel’s previous podcasts under one banner. For the pilot, The Official Marvel podcast was hosted by longtime Marvel host Langston Belton, along with the always chipper Preeti Chhibber, who months ago served as the co-host of The Women of Marvel podcast alongside Marvel digital director Ellie Pyle

This will also be Marvel’s first big podcast without many of their familiar teams in its past few years, as it seems This Week in Marvel, Marvel’s Voices, and Women of Marvel have been shelved. Especially since the podcasting division had begun seeing its series of layoffs.

Episode one of The Official Marvel Podcast also talks with Marvel Games product development manager Laura Hathaway. Details had also been revealed regarding Marvel vs. Capcom: Arcade Classics, which featured some of the greatest superhero video games of the 90s including X-Men: Children of The Atom.
