BENEATH THE TREES WHERE NOBODY SEES: PRÄLUDIUM

Fresh off its 2024 Eisner Award nomination for Best New Series, BENEATH THE TREES WHERE NOBODY SEES returns with an all-new bonus chapter!

Cold-hearted serial killer Samantha Strong is the picture of control and precision—but her hand wasn’t always so steady, her path not always so clear. Join us under the canopy of the Black Forest in 1962 for a trip down memory lane and witness the moment when young Sam’s lost soul locked eyes with its grisly new direction.

Breakout writer-artist Patrick Horvath answers the curtain call for his smash hit series in this SDCC exclusive ashcan, featuring 10 pages of new story and two pages of bonus sketches.

Only 1,000 copies will be available at the IDW booth #2729 priced at $10.

Horvath teased what fans can expect and how much he’s enjoyed working on the series:

“With San Diego Comic-Con coming so soon after the conclusion of the last issue and before the trade comes out in September, it felt like the perfect opportunity to do an ashcan that worked as a prelude. I’ve mentioned it multiple times in the past, but there’s so much fun stuff to dip into with the world of BENEATH THE TREES WHERE NOBODY SEES and Samantha, and I’m grateful that IDW has been so supportive in making it happen. Diving into Samantha’s past has been a blast to work on, and I’m extremely excited for readers to get their hands on it at the con!”

Maggie Howell, Group Editor for IDW Originals, expressed similar sentiments:

“We were about to cross the finish line on the final issue of BENEATH THE TREES WHERE NOBODY SEES when Patrick pitched the idea of immediately following up with a bonus chapter to tell Sam’s origin story. I was never going to say no to that. From the bottom of our hearts, we’ve loved making this book as much as fans loved reading it, so I’ll take any excuse to keep going!”
