It has just been announced that superstar writer Jason Aaron will be the next creator to take a shot at Robert E. Howard’s most famous creation in the pages of Titan Comics and Heroic Signatures’ Savage Sword of Conan anthology. Returning to the character at its current home at Titan, Aaron will be joined by artist Geof Isherwood to tell a two-part King Conan tale starting in Savage Sword of Conan #5, releasing October 30.
Alongside the main King Conan feature by Aaron and Isherwood, there will be a Young Conan backup feature by writer Michael Kogge and artist Dan Parsons. The 64-page black and white anthology will retail for $6.99, and feature two alternate covers by Joe Jusko (cover A, AUG240376) and Alex Horley (cover B, AUG240377).
No stranger to the world of Conan, Jason Aaron previously spearheaded a major revival of the character when Marvel once more had possession of the license (for the second time in its storied history) between 2019 and 2022. At Marvel, he scripted the main Conan book and a King Conan miniseries with art by Mahmud Asrar.
Aaron is having a very big year – hot off a five year stint on Marvel’s Avengers comics (2018-2023), he is now leaping left, right, and centre at all manner of opportunities, including taking the reins as main writer on IDW’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and participating in the Oni Press EC Comics revival. On his Substack newsletter, the writer has admitted that this year’s upcoming Comic-Con could possibly be “the biggest San Diego Comic-Con of my career” – having last attended the show in 2016. And he isn’t done yet – with teased involvement in the upcoming DC Absolute Comics initiative.
I thought his Marvel run was pretty forgetful TBH
