The Fantastic Four: First Steps, Marvel Studios‘ reboot of the much beloved superhero team and the first film in the MCU to feature Marvel’s first family in full, is scheduled to arrive in cinemas on July 25th, 2025. In preparation, Marvel Studios has released a brand new trailer, as well as an accompanying poster, which can be seen below.

The film will star Pedro Pascal (The Last of Us) as Reed Richards / Mr Fantastic, leader of the Fantastic Four and super-genius scientist. Vanessa Kirby (Mission Impossible: Fallout) will play his wife Sue Storm / The Invisible Woman, head of the team’s Future Foundation and public face. Joseph Quinn (Stranger Things) will play her brother Johnny Storm / The Human Torch, whilst Ebon Moss-Bachrach (The Bear) will play Reed’s best friend Ben Grimm, the ever-loving blue-eyed Thing. The film is set in a retro-futurist 1960’s inspired world, where the Fantastic Four are beloved celebrities known for their philanthrophy. Their world will be thrown upside down with the arrival of Galactus (played by The Witch‘s Ralph Ineson) and his herald, The Silver Surfer (played by Ozark‘s Julia Garner).

The new film comes in tandem with a huge push in favour of the Fantastic Four after a tumultous 2010s for the team. They are the focus of the current One World Under Doom crossover event, have spotlighted roles in the massively popular Marvel Rivals video game, and many of their most iconic stories are being reprinted for new readers. The new trailer tells us more about the setting and story of the film, including focus on Sue Storm’s pregnancy, the coming of the Silver Surfer, and Reed’s struggle to deal with the responsibility of saving the world. It looks like a hell of a lot of fun, and seems to understand the source material incredibly well. It’s got a very Jack Kirby-esque style to it that looks ripped out of the comics, and that I love dearly as a longtime fan of the team.

The film will be directed by Matt Shakman and features a screenplay by Jeff Kaplan, Ian Springer, Josh Friedman, Cameron Squires, Eric Pearson and Peter Cameron. The brand new trailer can be seen below.
