Marvel’s Ultimate Universe remains as some of the hottest-selling comics in the market according to data from ICv2. As it stands, all three lines of Ultimate Spider-Man, Ultimate Black Panther, and Ultimate X-Men have ranked in the top 10 in sales since debut, not even accounting for the number of viewers on the Marvel Unlimited app, where Ultimate Spider-Man has remained high in the top trending for months.

Taking a freer approach to the comics lore has led to a lot of positive reception, and so far, Marvel’s Ultimate line has been a win all-around for the brand and even, comics on the whole. What’s surprising is how long Marvel has been willing to let these stories cook, like in introducing a new sinister six, way later by issue 8 for Spider-Man. It’s a very different strategy compared to most modern limited-series comics which cut off around the six-issue mark run.

We’re happy to share some sneak peeks of what’s to come this August for all three including the brand-new ULTIMATES in Marvel’s Ultimate Universe.

  1. What was the crazy story about shipments of Ultimate Black Panther #1 and Ultimate Spider-Man # 1 getting lost – but yet were mysteriously found again and now go for $50 – 75 a pop?

I had to settle for a third printing of Ultimate Spider-Man #1. I didn’t like that. I think my LCS near my place of employment pulled a fast one on me.

  2. That sounds similar to the “lost” shipments of the original Howard the Duck #1 back in the mid-1970s, which never made it to the newsstands, only to show up for sale at inflated prices soon after.
