Highly exclusive, publicity stunt-loving publisher Bad Idea has announced that they will hold a panel at New York Comic Con on Saturday, October 19, in Room 408 at 3 pm. The panel will feature the creator of the John Wick franchise Derek Kolstad, along with a slew of special guests. Details are listed below.
BAD IDEA: The New York Comic Con Panel
Join mastermind Derek Kolstad, creator and writer of the JOHN WICK franchise of movies, modern maestro Robert Venditti, BAD IDEA impresarios Dinesh Shamdasani, Peter Stern, Ben Simpson, Siena Fallon, and surprise guests for a first look at what will be the biggest comic book of the year — PLANET DEATH! Plus previews of BAD IDEA’s biggest slate yet, special guests AND a convention exclusive, pizza-themed giveaway!
Planet Death is the upcoming series written by Kolstad and Venditti with art by Tomás Giorello, set to begin where all Bad Idea comics are sold in March 2025. A sci-fi action thriller set on a frozen planet, Planet Death will follow the sole survivor of a botched human attack on an alien weapon, as he sets out to complete his mission, and return home. Incidentally, Kolstad is developing a film version of Venditti, Raúl Allén, and Antonio del Hoya‘s upcoming Bad Idea series Ordained, so perhaps we’ll receive an update on that too.
By the way, the pizza-themed giveaway will feature Big Caligula’s Pizza packaging, referencing the one-shot Hank Howard, Pizza Detective in Caligula’s Safe, created by Venditti and artist David Lapham in 2021. The press release did not specify if the boxes will actually contain pizzas, but there’s certainly one way to find out, and that’s by actually attending the panel!
Stay tuned for the news from the panel next week, as well as all the other announcements from the long New York Comic Con weekend. In the meantime, you can find out more about Planet Death here, and download a digital copy of the preview released at San Diego Comic-Con here.
