Marvel Comics’ upcoming variant cover reveal has unveiled that ONE WORLD UNDER DOOM #5 will see Earth’s greatest and Emperor Doom united against a common enemy: Dormammu! As seen in part of Ryan North and R.B. Silva‘s core series run, this summer’s June issue will feature a major turning mid-point in the limited 9-issue run. One that will see these characters reluctantly work together to stop the terrifying foe.
Here’s the premise for ONE WORLD UNDER DOOM #5:
Dormammu has come for Doom – and Doom has SURVIVED. Broken, depleted, but having bought the time he needed, Doom ensured victory. Now, Earth’s heroes face a choice: They can allow Earth to fall to Dormammu – or they can align with Doom and fight for Earth beside him. Doom is at his highest – with Earth’s heroes behind him, nothing can stop him now. Nothing that is, save for an unexpected return of an old foe…
However, that’s not all. As seen in the preview of ONE WORLD UNDER DOOM #2 featured earlier last month and just up above, the upcoming second issue will see Doom having united the world under his regime. Most of Earth’s denizens have all strangely agreed and embraced its brand new emperor, but there are still those who want to oppose Doom; in particular, the Fantastic Four, who interrupt Earth’s leader while he delivers a rousing speech at the United Nations. With issue #2 to hit stores in two weeks on March 19th.
Here’s what Ryan North had to say regarding the positive reception thus far to the series thus far:
“I signed for three hours at Crossover Comics in Montreal on Wednesday to celebrate the launch, and it was busy non-stop the whole time. I met a ton of great people—and, happily, had my first review there too, from a reader who read the issue while waiting in line for it to be signed! Thankfully, he really liked it. It’s been fantastic to wake up in a snow-covered Montreal and see all the enthusiasm about the book. It’s a story that’s been in the works for years, so to finally have it out—and so well-received—is really gratifying.”
