Boutique comics publisher Pegamoose Press has signed an agreement with Diamond Comic Distributors and will debut two books in comic shops this September. Founded by creative couple Brenda Hickey and Troy Little, Pegamoose has so far hosted three successful graphic novel Kickstarters and is already making waves as an indie press.

The first two Pegamoose titles to hit shelves in September are Little’s Angora Napkin: The Golden McGuffin and Hickey’s Halls of the Turnip King, which can be seen in the July Diamond Previews catalog. Nick Cross and Marlo Meekins’s Orchard of the Tame will be available at local comic book shops in October.

Angora Napkin: The Golden McGuffin follows the Cuddle Core pop icons as they form a side-hustle with their Existential Detective Agency. As you can imagine, things get a little chaotic, especially once they go hunting for the Golden McGuffin. Check out a preview below.

“We’ve been blown away by how supportive and responsive our direct audience has been, but it’s time to take our work to a wider audience in comic book shops – especially as fans discover my work through Oni’s new Cult of the Lamb series. We want Pegamoose titles to be accessible to everyone everywhere, and to be more readily available to those retail partners who have supported us since the beginning,” Little said.

Hickey said, “Being able to create—and now distribute—our own work through comic and book stores is a dream come true. I’m so proud to get Halls of the Turnip King out there, and to be able to share the incredible work of Troy, Marlo, Nick, and others with a wider audience. This is just the beginning of our ambitious publishing slate, and we hope readers will take the journey with us to see what’s next!”

Halls of the Turnip King follows the elf prince Tatian Elfiore on a forced royal mission into the dwarven mines. As the title suggests, the story—and any desire for peace and prosperity between these famously at-odds kingdoms—depends on a tasty root vegetable. Check out a preview below.
