To create the perfect little girls, you need some sugar, spice, and everything nice. But for this Powerpuff Girl Halloween Special, you’ll need a lot of sugar, pumpkin spice, and all things scary to create the perfect little girls for the spooky season.
Dynamite has announced The Powerpuff Girl Halloween Special, written by power couple Amanda Deibert, who also wrote Darkwing Duck, and Cat Staggs, who illustrated Wonder Woman ’77, a special release that will be the first of a line of quarterly special releases. Along with Staggs, Trish Forstner, and Silvia De Ventura will also illustrate the covers.
The covers by Staggs and Forstner can be viewed below:
“I am so excited about this Powerpuff Girls story jam-packed with pop-culture Halloween-eggs (is that a thing?) for horror-lovers and a multitude of mayhem and mix-ups with so many of our favorite villains,” said writer Amanda Deibert. “Nothing could be better than the Powerpuff Girls saving Halloween! This is a TREAT for us (and our Powerpuff-loving daughter!)”
“As an OG fan of The Powerpuff Girls, getting to draw them is a dream come true,” artist Cat Staggs said. “Getting to work with my incredible wife, Amanda Deibert, and mix it with my favorite holiday, perfection!”
Dynamite describes the special below:
Spooky season is kicking off, and Buttercup has set her sights on winning a fun contest hosted by the Townsville Gazette – creating the best Halloween horror comic! Buttercup will scope out the big, old, possibly haunted hotel for inspiration. The only problem is, in spite of all its spooky appeals like the creepy hedge maze, staying at the hotel means there’s nowhere to trick or treat. Which leads Bubbles and Blossom to try and convince their sister to alter her plans a bit so they can all show off their costumes and enjoy the holiday in multiple ways.
Dynamite previously announced that Paulina Ganucheau, who worked with Eisner Award-nominated writer Kelly Thompson on the first three issues of The Powerpuff Girls, will now take the reins for the next three issues. She and De Ventura will collaborate for Issue #4.
Containing 40 pages, The Powerpuff Girls Halloween Special releases on Oct. 23, 2024. The special will also be solicited in Diamond Comic Distributors’ August 2024 Preview catalog.
