Given the political turmoil of the next few months, the latest comic to come out of Black Mask is an ironic twist called HOW TO STEAL AN ELECTION (BEFORE SOMEONE ELSE DOES) #1. Written by Matteo Pizzolo and featuring art by Elisa Pocetta, colors by James Offredi, letters by Reed Hinckley-Barnes, and covers by Pocetta and Jasmin Darnell, this new up-and-coming series was only just released officially yesterday. The series, of course, takes some fun and sexy swings at the current political events soon to come – our modern-day elections.
Here’s the official story synopsis:
Roxanne Bronner is a newly elected Congresswoman taking a longshot swing in the Presidential Primary, but her campaign is derailed by a doxxing of her secret past as teenage cam girl ‘Fast Roxie.’ Abandoned by her campaign team and kicked out of the Democratic Primary, Roxanne seeks help from a chaotic, anarchic old frenemy from her camming days: hustler extraordinaire Beebee Ghraib, who guides Roxanne to launch a raucous, no-holds-barred third-party campaign. But what starts as a burn-it-all-down revenge spree escalates into a wild odyssey of seizing Democracy from politicians’ cold dead hands. A raucous and unhinged R-rated comedy about taking down the hypocrites, looking out for your friends, and toasting marshmallows as it all burns down.
Now this is a comic that goes from basic to ridiculous in the span of a very few pages. It’s got a very silly premise and a lot of sexy appeal – with a message that’s both sex positive, but also, strangely current as a strong political commentary of our political times. More than anything, it questions our party ideations, and most importantly, gets blunt about just how fucked this country is and why it’s time to feature a different sort of president.
