SEGA’s iconic and beloved franchise Yakuza brings the Prime Video show Like a Dragon: Yakuza to SDCC coming out on October 24th!

The panel immediately starts with the moderator introducing the panelists. These panelists were The head of International Originals at Amazon MGM Studios James Farrell and the show’s executive producer Erik Barmack. Introductions don’t stop there though. Fans got the first exclusive meeting of two beloved characters!

Ryoma Takeuchi will portray the popular character Kazuma Kiryu and Kento Kaku will play Akira Nishikiyama in the upcoming live-action.

The excitement doesn’t end there, fans were also treated with a first sneak peak of the show with a trailer. The trailer is packed with many familiar locations, icons, and characters from the IP.

They go into a deeper dive about how the show came about. There were many doubts about it but the producers believed it can appeal to everyone in the world which is what the executive producer, Bardmack tells us.

Fans were buzzing with excitement as the two actors talked about their experiences on the set and how they prepared for the role. Ryoma Takeuchi made sure he fully respected the IP series during the training and preparation for Kiryu. Kento Kaku also said that his character was someone that everyone can relate to while watching while he was preparing.

 

The live-action will take place spanning the years of 1995 and 2005, showing how the childhood friends came to be. Many exclusive clips were shown as well which further excited the audience as everyone kept cheering for the scenes that played in front of them.

The panel ended with a special video message from Masayoshi Yokoyama who is the executive producer of RYU GA GOTOKU Studio in Japan!

Fans of this popular game are sure not to miss this show when it first airs the first three episodes of Like a Dragon: Yakuza air on Prime Video on October 24.
