The Boys’ Love manga imprint of Viz usually only announces their licenses three times a year and oftentimes only two licenses per, which makes each announcement that much more special. On the day of love, aka Valentine’s Day, SuBLime revealed they had licensed Sleeping on Paper Boats and Trickster’s Tale: Hu Yan Zhuan. Both series will release in the last quarter of 2025.
Sleeping on Paper Boats, written and illustrated by Teki Yatsuda, follows a traumatized screenwriter. Kei Kiatahara is a renowned screenwriter who decides to stop writing upon realizing that the people he’s modeling his protagonists after have all died tragic deaths. Horrified and traumatized, he withdraws from society, just biding his time and waiting for his own death to find him. One day, a stranger finds a broken and beaten-up Kei in a gutter and saves him. Upon waking up, Kei is instantly drawn to the stranger and finds an irresistible urge to write about him–an urge he knows he must never act on if he doesn’t want his savior to die.
Sleeping on Paper Boats releases on October 14, 2025 and is priced at $12.99.
Trickster’s Tale: Hu Yan Zhuan is written and illustrated by Hontoku. The premise on SuBLime describes a forbidden relationship between a half-fox demon, half-human and his master. After losing his family when he was nothing but a child, Feijin becomes the pupil of Sage Gaochun and falls in love with him. However, due to the nature of their relationship as master and pupil, they cannot be together and Feijin is constantly shot down. However, Feijin discovers that his master has been harboring a dark past of his own.
Trickster’s Tale: Hu Yan Zhuan releases on December 9, 2025 and is priced at $12.99 on the website.
