We’re less than three months until James Gunn‘s Superman film flies into theaters. To say that Warner Bros. and the future of DC Studios has a lot riding on it is an understatement. This year may be the “Summer of Superman” but come next summer it’s time for Supergirl to shine to her own feature length film. Based on Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow an eight-issue miniseries by writer Tom King and artist Bilquis Evely, the film stars Milly Alcock as the titular character. As those familiar with the miniseries are well aware, the story follows Girl of Steel who accompanies a stoic alien girl named Ruthye Marye Knoll (played by Eve Ridley) on a “murderous quest for revenge” that takes the pair to multiple planets. Directed by Craig Gillespie from a screenplay by Ana Nogueira, filming for the Supergirl movie began last January and is expected to continue until May.

Yesterday  actor David Krumholtz, who plays Supergirl’s father Zor-El, posted on Instagram what appears to be the official logo for the film.

Granted, it’s entirely possible that this is just a placeholder design for the Supergirl movie logo and the final version will end up being something completely different. What is worth noting that the subtitle “Woman of Tomorrow” is not featured in the title logo. So it’s very possible that the film will be dropping the subtitle and simply be called Supergirl. A similar decision was made for the new Superman which was originally titled Superman: Legacy until Gunn changed it explaining that the subtitle felt like “looking back.”

Despite being based on the aforementioned miniseries, the film is obviously deviating from the original source material, most notably the inclusion of Lobo portrayed by the perfect casting of Jason Momoa.

Whatever the title for the Supergirl movie, fans can look forward to seeing it when it arrives in theaters next summer on June 2, 2026.
