2012 Harvey Award Nominations Announced
It's time for the 2012 Harvey Awards voting. Get your ballot at http://www.harveyawards.org. Ballots are due on August 17th and the awards are given out at the Baltimore Comic-Con on September 8th. The nominations list follows. (I guess Nick Bradshaw must not be getting any love for his Army of Darkness run back from ~'04-'05, since he's nominated for "MOST PROMISING NEW TALENT.)"

SDCC 12: Eisner Awards info: early start, Syfy sponsors
Via PR, some info on this year's Eisner Award ceremony, including the fact that the event will start one half-hour earlier than usual, at 8 pm, meaning the ceremony should wrap up before 11 pm.
Presenters include Jonathan Ross, whose making out with Neil Gaiman a few years provided perhaps the best Eisner ceremony moment ever. This year's fest is being sponsored by Syfy, meaning we'll probably see the stars of some Syfy show presenting an award or two.
Will Eisner Spirit of Comics Retailer Award nominees announced
The nominees for this year's Will Eisner Spirit of Comics Retailing award have been revealed and they are as follows:

2012 Russ Manning Award nominees announced
The nominees for this year's Russ Manning Award—a sort of "most promising newcomer" for artists—have been announced and they are:
Frank Doyle and Steve Skeates win the Finger Award
Frank Doyle—a prolific writer for Archie—and Steve Skeates, a busy comics writers of the '70s, have won the Finger Award, which honors two writers, one living, one deceased, whose contributions to the comics medium have been underappreciated. Two great choices. The awards will be presented during this year's Eisner Awards.
Will Eisner Graphic Novel Prize for Libraries to debut at ALA Convention in Anaheim
We all know (or should know!) how important Will Eisner was to the comics artform. Something an increasing number of people know is how important libraries are to getting more and more people to read comics and graphic novels.
So it makes sense that a Graphic Novel Prize for Libraries would be named for Eisner.

2012 NCS Award Winners; Tom Richmond nabs the Reuben
The 2012 'Reuben' awards were given out by the NCS (National Cartoonists Society) on Saturday night, although only one is actually called the Reuben. The full list of winners is here, but Tom Richmond, best known for his work on MAD Magazine won the top spot, otherwise known as THE REUBEN AWARD for Outstanding Cartoonist of the Year. Richmond is a fairly prolific blogger, and has already recorded his initial thoughts:

Pichelli and Snyder headline Stan Lee Award winners
Artist Sara Pichelli won Best Artist and Best Newcomer awards at last night's Stan Lee Awards, which are presented at the Kapow! to recognize achievements in superhero comics or something. Pichelli was on hand to accept her awards, as you can see, which is a good thing because originally there were no women in comics to go to the show. Luckily, some were found.
