In Seattle, the Elysian Brewing Company is debutingthe next beer in their 12 Beers of the Apocalypse program, with labels by Charles Burns, for that "craft beer that gives me the creeps" feeling.
This weekend: Face 2 Face in NYC
We may have just thrown out the bones of the Christmas Tree, but it's not too early to go a'conning again. It's the return of the church con this weekend in NYC as Big City Dare2Draw, a homegrown organization that puts on life drawing classes for every level of artist, is putting on a show at a midtown church. Erik Mark Sandberg is actually an American artist, based in LA, who has exhibited worldwide. He's best known for his images of hairy children mixed with startling pop culture tableaux.

Nice art AND To Do 12/1: Kilian Eng art at Floating World
Swedish digital artist Kilian Eng is one of the hottest things going in illustration, and he's getting his first monograph from Floating World Comics -- and they'll be holding an opening to celebrate on December 1st at FLoating World. Alas the artist will not be on hand. The book will be available at the Brooklyn Comics and Graphics Festival on December 3.

More details of the last big indie show of 2011 have been announced, including related festivities, which include events at Union Pool, the Scot Eder Gallery, the Spectacle Theater and the Brick Theater, and an expanded guest list which, in addition to previously announced legends, also includes Adrian Tomine, Jordan Crane, Michael Deforge, Gabrielle Bell, Dash Shaw, Gary Panter, Frank Santoro, and Leslie Stein.

Alexa at Ladies Making Comics has a delightful report up on an event at Books of Wonder with Trina Robbins and Golden Age cartoonist Lily Renée, who is the subject of a new biographical comic written by Robbins. A nice reminder that "Women in Comics" didn't start last month, last year, or even the last decade!
Jack Davis, Phoebe Gloeckner headline Brooklyn Comics and Graphics Fest
The featured guests for this Decembers Brooklyn Comics and Graphics Festival have been announced, and it's pretty spectacular: CF, Jack Davis, Phoebe Gloeckner, Lisa Hanawalt, Chip Kidd, David Mazzucchelli, John Porcellino and Brian Ralph.
If you are like us, you are most excited about the chance to meet the legendary Jack Davis, who was not only an EC Comics mainstay, but one of the original MAD artists and one of the most influential illustrators of the 60s and 70s with his unmistakeable "bigfoot" style. So YEAH. Amazing.
