Just a few short, happy days ago, we announced the the long-awaited release of Comic-Con Episode IV -- A Fan's Hope, the Comic-Con documentary by Morgan Spurlock. The VOD release was to be accompanied by a limited theatrical release which would include mini comic-cons at each stop, with comic-con-y activities like exhibits, costume contests and so on. Well, this rather mysterious item in the Sun-Sentinel states that the entire tour has been canceled:

The three nerdiest moments at the 2012 Oscars

Unlike last year's extremely uncomfortable Oscar® telecast, with its poorly-matched, inexperienced hosts, this year was as comfy as a cup of warm borscht, as Billy Crystal busted out venerable schtik and timing. Other than that, it was all a parade of white dresses, sequins, and very, very predictable wins. But a few moments stood out for Our Kind:

Disney, there is still time to save John Carter!

Well, maybe. Our long-wished-for ERB adaptation is already, a few days before opening, the latest Hollywood disaster, with comparisons to ISHTAR and other mega bombs. The Daily Beast has a super-lengthy expose on the Game of Thrones-like studio politics of former head Dick Cook, who greenlighted the film, and current head Rich Ross, who has enemies of his own:

Only days ago we were speculating with an industry pal on what had ever happened to Morgan Spurlock's documentary about the San Diego Comic-Con, which was filmed with some fanfare in 2010, had a splashy tie-in book last summer, premiered at the Toronto Film Festival and then went silent.

The one comic book movie you MUST see: CARTOON COLLEGE

0
AMC, History Channel, Spike—every TV network that ever wanted to do a "Comic Book Idol" TV show—here is the comic book life captured in its most primal and dramatic: people arguing about cover design in front of over stuffed bookcases and furnishing mingled from antiques and plastic storage boxes from Target. Yes, this is the life.

Matthew Vaughn confirmed for X-Men: "Second Class"

0
A sequel to the well-received X-MEN: FIRST CLASS has been greenlit with Matthew Vaughn once again to direct, Deadline reports. Simon Kinberg has written a script and Bryan Singer will produce. Everyone expects Michael Fassbender and James McAvoy to reprise their roles as Magneto and Professor X, but no one has officially been signed yet. And given Fassbender's recent roles, maybe we'll get to see little Magneto, too.
