Another month and another legacy anniversary issue arrives from Marvel, with April 16 bringing the release of Wolverine #400 (although really, it’s issue #8 of this current volume). And with an anniversary issue, the publisher promises something that will be the most shocking reveal yet within all 400 issues.
What could be so shocking for readers after 400 issues of Canada’s favorite mutant? Marvel is not providing any hints. But here’s what are sure to be some very accurate guesses from me, The Beat’s own Professor of Wolverine Studies…
- Wolverine isn’t Canadian but was actually born in Weehauken, New Jersey
- His famous adamantium skeleton is actually some other metal?
- The piece of paper he holds is a winning ticket for the New York Lottery
- Wolverine, despite being a Canadian citizen, owes several decades of back taxes to the IRS
- Actually that piece a paternity test proving that Logan is actually the real Summers Father
- Weapon X wants him to pay off that adamantium skeleton they put inside him
- Sabertooth is suing him for defamation
- Logan’s been a member of the Great Lakes Avengers this entire time
- Wolverine is the best at what he does but despite what he’s told audiences for the last 50 years, what he does is actually very pretty?
- He won yet another pottery competition because in-between all of his endless adventures, Logan creates award winning pottery
The possibilities are as endless as Wolverine’s lifespan!
Befitting an anniversary issue, the current creative team of Saladin Ahmed and Martín Cóccolo will be joined by superstar guest artist Daniel Warren Johnson (Do a Powerbomb, Transformers). Interiors by Johnson are always something to be celebrated and seeing him draw Wolverine offers a lot of possibilities.
Maybe the shocking reveal is that Logan’s actually a Transformer and we’re getting a crossover! The most popular Marvel mutant has a had a lot of shocking reveals over the years from his origin to finding out he was a dad years ago, so this must surely be a doozy to top those.
